Your ABCs To Ageless Beauty

Where do you begin when you want to
slow down your aging process?

What are the steps to feeling
and looking younger inside and out?

How do you go about becoming an “Ageless Beauty”?

A friend of mine suggested that I should considering writing about what I do to look and fell younger inside and out. She said, “Well, Linda since you look great and are so healthy, why you don’t write about your process of being an ageless beauty”. Well, I was trying to come up with an approach that would take my degree in Fashion Merchandising, color theory, personal imagery, beauty, fitness and health combined with listening to CDs on self-development, spirituality and happiness to create a wonderful article for you.

After a couple of weeks of daily meditation and considering several topics, titles and subjects, I decided to go the ABC route. Hope you enjoy this article you are about to read.

Do you really know your ABCs?

A - Attitude - Not only does Attitude start with an A; this is one of the elements in creating your own happiness. Attitude of Gratitude is SO important in the first step in creating the life you want, that you dream of.

Exercise: Put a little note pad by your bedside, and write on the top line Happiness. Everyday upon rising quickly write down 3 things that you are grateful for.

B - Body Beautiful - Move your body. Take care of your body and it will take care of you. Pick a movement or exercise that you enjoy and will do at least once a week.(Beth & Bill on the radio at KEZ 99.9 mentioned that there was a study done of one thing that brought “joy” of humans, and it was Dance! C - Control - Control your thoughts, before they control you.

D - Detoxify - Consider looking into a healthy detoxification cleanse to stimulate, strengthen, support and renew your body and mind.

E - Exfoliate - Exfoliate your face and body skin twice a week with pure, organic, natural botanicals that leaves your feeling fresh and clean. You can check out the soft face and medium body brushes at Sprouts, just ask at their customer service desk.

F - Focus - Focus on the “beauty” all around your World! Stop for a second and look around you now! Or think of all the “beautiful things” in your life that make you “smile”.

G - Generosity: Be generous! Do one generous act a day. Smile to someone passing by, Say “Good Morning” to someone who you would just pass by, open the door for a stranger today.

H - Healthy - Eat healthy food for a healthy mind and body. Pick up the AzNetNews paper at your local Health Food store with great little recipes; go to the library and half-price bookstores to discover more healthy food books with recipes for you and your family this week-end. Remember your children are learning from you about “healthy eating habits” for their future and their families in the future generations!

I - Initiate your positive and healthy ideas to your family. Set up a family meeting night, one night a week to go over a new plan for your new recipes that you are planning, a family project to get everyone involved with, or plan an event-like a “surprise” birthday party for Grandma. Get everyone involved for the little changes, so they will be more comfortable when the big changes come along.

J - Journaling - According to a survey on what helps people create more “happiness in their life, besides writing down three things that you are grateful every day is to journal five minutes once a week. Write down how you are feeing about all the positive events that happened that week. If you cannot think of anything, Think Harder and come up with something.

K - Keep - your “power” within yourself-everyday you have a choice to feel good and in your “power” or not.  If someone is ruffling your feathers, try to keep from getting ruffled, usually they are not worth giving your “power” away to them. You can choose to stay happy and powerful or not. Being happy and in your power resonates with positivity inside your body. Being sad will only create dis-ease in your body-which by the way ages you quicker.

L - Loving - Loving thoughts are what bring us to “beauty”; loving thoughts are what keep us beautiful!

M - Make-up your face every day that you are venturing outside of your home. Helena Rubenstein and Estee Lauder worked for over 50 years to bring you ways to enhance your “natural beauty”! “The little things are so important” as Reverend Richard M. mentioned in his presentation this morning at Unity of Phoenix.

N - Non-invasive treatments are a great way for you to make subtle changes to improve your complexion and look more youthful. These are much more affordable with no risk, downtime or pain.  Indulge yourself at a Day Spa or Salon, skin center once in a while or ask your family or loved one to purchase a “gift certificate” when your birthday comes around, Mother’s Day, Holidays, etc.

There is NOTHING like RELAXING AND REJUVENATING TOUCH to make your feel LUXURIOUS inside and out!  

O - Oxygen - There is nothing like breathing in oxygen and air to freshen up your body. Just like you have heard in Yoga class, the breathe is SO important. Your exercise for enhancement is the next time you are stopped at a “red light” and looking for something to do, start slowly inhaling DEEP LONG breaths, really DEEP, and exhaling these breathe SLOWLY out. Try it right now------------you will feel much better, and you have a nice pick “glow” -- without being pregnant!

P - Protection - Protection from the SUN - yes, use sunscreen everyday when you are in the sun, even just walking to your mailbox, which by the way adds up to approximately 1,680 minutes per year. How many hours is that?  Too many accumulated in just one year, imagine that times your age. That all adds up to------PROTECTION FROM THE SUN!!! You DO NOT want any Skin Cancer anywhere on your body.

Q - Quiet your mind - Quieting your mind is another key element to the “happiness” factor. Sit in quietness five minutes a day. Sit in the bathroom if you have to “grab” the time for yourself. A dear friend of mine told me once, “That’s why women need to sit down when they go to the bathroom, it is the ONLY time they get to sit down and catch their breathe”. J Be one with your thoughts in silence.

R - Relax - Relax and balance out your life in equal amounts. This one is hard for some of us-----me, me, me,,, that’s the melody I am singing here. I love my work so very much, I live at work.  Maybe set a timer at the beginning of a day, and LEAVE when it goes off. Anything after 10 hours, you should not feel too guilty about leaving. Perhaps you need to look at putting more “playtime” in your week for “relaxation and balance.”

S - Skincare - Skincare fallacies - 98% of the skin care products in this country do NOT work. This will help you clear up all your confusion about all the products “out there.” Find a company with “before and after” photos and live testimonials. Ask someone who looks great and younger for their age what they are using on their skin and receive the results that you deserve!

T - Treatments - ask all your friends where they go for their facial treatments. You deserve to experience a professional treatment from an experienced Aesthetician. Professional treatments are performed with specific formulations with products for you specific needs and skin goals with “faster” results. Would you work on your own car? Just call them up and see if you can come in for a consultation to just get some information about how to improve your complexion and obtain “ageless beauty.”

U - Uniqueness - “YOU” are unique and special and there is NOT another human on the Planet like you! Celebrate your unique beauty, your unique gifts, your unique talents and your unique skills. Your exercise is to look in the mirror in the Every morning and celebrate your own uniqueness by “smiling” at your “beauty”! Put up a bright post-it note to remind you. You can post these little post-it notes all over your house to remind you of all your new little exercises in this article to celebrate your “beauty”!

V - Vibration of energy - you are a vibration of energy source. Remember years ago when you had static carpet in your homes and received a little “shock” when you touched your television. You are an energy source of Light. You are a “beautiful” source of Light and Energy, and a unique at that!

W - What - What are you going to do starting today to create more “beauty” in your life? I’m waiting for an answer----write it down on a post-it right now. You can always go out and buy that song by Carol King “BEAUTIFUL’, on the Tapestry Album and play that over and over again on your head phones while you are doing all your chores on the week-end.

X - 'X-treme - Extreme approaches to obtaining and keeping your “youthful beauty”. Information is coming across to me from my Southern California friends that now with some Hollywood celebrities coming forth and showing their unhappiness  with their surgical facelifts, their close friends seeking out alternative treatments as micro-current facelift treatments, micro-dermabrasion and “result-oriented” facial treatments. 

Please do your homework when you go in for a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon and ask for credentials, “before and after” photos and get the names and phone numbers of 3-6 patients that they have done. You can call or meet with them and ask them how happy they are with their results now. There are very few plastic surgeons that have an outstanding reputation in this Valley here.

Y - Yoga. You knew this was coming-right? There are many different styles of Yoga to choose from. Yoga postures are said to remove obstructions from the body to enhance your energy, well-being, achieve inner peace and your “inner beauty” as well!

Z - Zest for Life - Put more “zest” in your life by putting more energy into your Life. You can have whatever and whomever you choose in your life to make it even “more beautiful”. Choose today to do so!

In closing, you can choose to become an “ageless beauty” and put more “beauty” into your life by picking just one new exercise a month and after 26 months and following these ABCs, you will enhance the “beautiful you” that you are today!
